This is what usually happens when it is winter in north India. They have given an alert, which means it is likely that the fog will stay for a few more days especially at night and, in the early morning.
The weather people think that a western disturbance might come later in the week. This western disturbance could bring a bit of rain. When it rains the fog might not be as bad for a time.. The rain is also going to make it colder in the region. The western disturbance and the rain will make the cold conditions worse, across the region.
