It was hard to see far in the morning and late at night especially, on the big roads and highways that people use a lot.
The rain had an impact on the city. It was good that the rain brought some relief from the air we breathe. The rain washed away the dust on the streets. Made the air a little cleaner. The air quality was really bad before the rain. After the rain it got a little better in many places. The rain lowered the particles in the air so the citys air quality went from very poor to just poor or moderate in many areas. The citys air quality is still not great. The rain made the air a little better which is good, for the city.
The rain caused a lot of problems. It made the roads very crowded. There was water all over the place in some areas of central, south and east Delhi. The roads near ITO, Minto Bridge, Ring Road and some parts of Noida Sector were really bad. People who were driving had to go slow because of all the water on the roads. This made them late when they were trying to get to work during the time of day. The traffic congestion and waterlogging, in Delhi made it hard for people to get around.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Public Works Department were told to be ready to clear the drains and send teams to help in case of an emergency. The traffic police told people to use roads and not to travel unless they really had to when it was raining very hard. The weather people say it will be cloudy and might rain a bit on and off for the next day. After that it should get clearer. It will get even colder at night. People who live here should be careful especially when there are storms with thunder. When there is lightning it is an idea to stay away, from open spaces. You should also keep listening to what the weather people’re saying so you know what is going on with the weather.
The sudden winter rain has once again highlighted Delhi-NCR’s vulnerability to abrupt weather events, underlining the need for improved urban drainage systems and real-time traffic management during extreme weather conditions.
