Delhi had sunny weather on Monday. This was nice to see because it has been really gloomy during the winter.. Even with the sun shining the air in Delhi is still very bad. The Air Quality Index levels are still really high in places around the National Capital Region. The air is so bad that it is still in the Severe category. Delhis air pollution is a problem and it does not seem to be getting better even when the sun is out. The Air Quality Index levels, in the National Capital Region are still a concern.

The weather updates say that the temperature during the day was a little higher than what we see in mid January.. At night it is still very cold in the capital city. We do get sunshine during the day which’s nice but the thing is there are not enough strong winds to blow the bad air away. So the pollution from things like cars and factories stays close, to the ground.

Air Quality Situation

The pollution levels in Delhi are really bad. Data from the people who check pollution said that the bad stuff in the air like PM2.5 and PM10 was way too high. In places in Delhi the air quality was so bad that it went over 400 which is very severe. This is a problem for peoples health especially for kids, old people and those who have trouble breathing. The PM2.5 and PM10 levels are still very high which is not good, for anyone.

The air in the city is really bad now. Environmental experts say that the wind is not blowing much and that is a problem. When the wind is calm like this and we have winter inversion layers the bad air does not go away. It just stays there. The fog is not as thick as it was before. We still have a lot of smog in the city. This smog is worst in the morning and evening. The environmental experts are talking about the smog and the pollution, in the city. The pollution is an issue because the calm wind conditions and the winter inversion layers are preventing the pollution from going away. The city is still covered in smog during the morning and late evening hours.

Weather Conditions

Day temperature: Mild and slightly above seasonal average

Night temperature: Cold, with chill persisting after sunset

Sky conditions: Clear to mostly sunny

Wind speed: Low, limiting pollution dispersal

The India Meteorological Department says that the weather is not doing much to help clean the air now. This is because there is no storm or strong wind to blow the bad air away. The air quality will only get better if we get winds or a lot of rain.. The India Meteorological Department does not think that will happen anytime soon. The India Meteorological Department is watching the weather. They are waiting for something to change. The India Meteorological Department wants to see winds or rainfall to help clean the air.

Health Advisory

The people, in charge of health are saying again that they want residents to:

Avoid outdoor physical activities, especially during morning and evening hours

Wear protective masks if venturing outside

Use air purifiers indoors where possible

Monitor AQI levels regularly

Schools and offices need to be careful and watch out for any rules that might be put in place if the air gets even dirtier. The pollution levels are really bad. Schools and offices have to be ready, for this.

Outlook

While sunny weather is likely to continue over the next few days, experts warn that air quality may remain poor to severe unless meteorological conditions change significantly. The persistence of pollution once again highlights Delhi’s recurring winter air crisis and the need for sustained long-term pollution control measures.
